Do Your Socks Match?

This is what I worked on this weekend. They're so comfy. But they don't exactly match. None of my socks do. I've heard of knitters that actually make their socks match but I've never met one. It may be a myth. I can't imagine bothering. They're just socks and it's pretty silly to knit socks anyway.

There are always leftovers with sock yarn so I made more party shoes for Reese. I think she needs a lot of party shoes. But these are made from a new pattern. The ones I usually make are from a very old knitting magazine and I think copyright stuff still applies. So I went a googling and found these Mary Janes that are almost exactly the same as the ones I usually make. So Reese & I will match. Or almost match, like my socks.

The only socks that I made that match, are the ones that are solid colors... :) Cute booties! That's a good idea, using the left overs for baby socks and shoes... I'll have to start doing that.

It's not hard to make socks match. When casting on the first sock, make sure you're starting at the beginning of a new colour. Then when you start the 2nd sock, wind off the yarn until you're at the same spot where you started the first sock. Voilá. The socks will match. It's also easy to duplicate the first sock as you just follow the striping and start the heel, etc. at the same spot. Here's my most recent pair: http://notjustaboutknitting.blogspot.com/2008/05/identical-twins.html

I like your blog. And your baby granddaughter is adorable.
