Mystery Socks

Have you ever done a mystery knit along? I found out that I really look at the pictures in the patterns a lot. Just to see if my project matches. In a mystery KAL, you just never know and it's a bit worrisome. These socks were for the Outlander group on Ravelry and they were really a lot of fun. We started with the toe at the end of June.

Next came the foot with a pattern and some little cables.

Next we turned the heel. And finally some posted pictures so I could see that mine were just like the others.

Then onto the cuff with some more cables. I really liked how the gusset stitches led right into the cables.

I was knitting on the beach last weekend with my many pages of pattern covered with all my scribbles.

Finally, some beads in the shape of a heart. Then the cuff and binding off. I did eliminate a garter stitch part because they were long enough as it was.

The yarn is Malabrigo sock yarn in Lettuce, so soft and nice. And the beads just matched perfectly. My first time knitting with beads, much easier than I had expected.

My only problem was that these tied up all my size one DPN's for a very long time so I had to go out and buy another set. Which meant a trip to the LYS where there is just too much temptation.

Oh, yes, the LYS. I've been there 3 times this last week, post-Sock Summit.

The socks look great! I've never done a mystery KAL. I guess I'm not trusting enough! And I like to know what I'm knitting before I start, so I know if I want to commit the time to it...

I did a mystery KAL once, and went through the same thing! Makes you really appreciate good photography with a pattern! But your socks are lovely, and the colour is beautiful.

The socks are beautiful. As to the hardship of temptation, a girl has got to have some fun!

Your socks look great in the Lettuce colour! I really enjoyed doing the Through the Loops KAL for Socktoberfest last year - hoping Kirsten's doing something similar for this year too!

Brave to forge on without knowing exactly where the KAL is taking you. I love the Malabrigo in that colorway. Bet you are enjoying the socks. I must learn to knit with beads too. So pretty.

This sounds like a lot of fun. I'm sorry I didn't know about the mystery knit-along. I'll have to search Ravelry and see if there are any going on now.

I'm with you, though, I like having a picture so I can gauge whether or not I'm knitting the pattern correctly. It would be good for me to be more adventurous!

BTW I love how the socks turned out. They are beautiful. I hope they are for you :)

The socks look like they much have been so much fun (and interesting) to knit. Love the color you chose!
