Physics Lessons
This weekend we learned a lot about hydrostatic pressure especially this kind: "Groundwater in water-saturated soils being pushed into the basement by hydrostatic pressure." Apparently over two feet of snow melting followed by almost six inches of rain in one day causes water to make cracks in your basement floor which then ooze water for 72 hours. We're finally drying out, we're sore and really tired but I have some really cool pictures of spinning to share. Maybe tomorrow, now we're just going to bed.

Water is so destructive when it's not where you want it to be! Sorry for your woes.
How horrible - hope this is the kind of basement where no stash is living and that you managed to save everything important before the water did too much damage.
I am living in dread of warm weather since we have had one of the snowiest and coldest winters in a long, long time and spring is just about to begin. This combined with a house in a kind of a dell built on very clay rich ground makes me very nervous.
Oh no! Let's hope warm, drying days are ahead.

Malin, thanks for your concern but our basement has no stash, just stuff and it's all up off the floor, thank goodness.
